Launch checklist · public idea board

Launch a public idea board people actually use.

IdeasDiamond works when the first board is narrow, seeded with real repeated ideas, placed where people already ask, and followed with roadmap status or a changelog receipt. Use this checklist before opening a board, installing the widget, or asking an owner to claim an official page.

Six launch moves

Make the first board useful before you make it official.

01

Choose one narrow promise

Start with a board people understand in five seconds: restock requests, menu ideas, feature requests, local improvements, event feedback, or website feedback.

02

Seed 3–7 starter ideas

Add the repeated questions, requests, and pain points you already hear. Empty boards feel abandoned; a few real prompts make voting easier.

03

Ask for votes, not essays

Invite people to vote on ideas before asking them to write long feedback. Votes turn scattered interest into visible demand.

04

Install the board where demand already appears

Link the board from your product, shop, docs, newsletter, community, or local site. Use the widget or embed when a separate feedback destination would create friction.

05

Move only the clearest ideas through roadmap status

Use under review, planned, building, shipped, and closed to communicate decisions. Do not turn every idea into a promise.

06

Ship one visible receipt

When an idea gets done, publish it as a changelog receipt. One closed loop teaches people that the board is worth using.

Avoid false starts

The launch should lower friction, not create another empty portal.

A public idea board is strongest when it captures existing demand and shows progress. Paid organization controls can wait until the board has signal.

Launching a generic “Feedback” board with no examples or context.

Promising dates before votes prove repeated demand.

Hiding the board in a footer while ideas still arrive through DMs, inboxes, or support chat.

Asking for paid private controls before the public board has a clear reason to exist.
